Persons & Competent Persons Assessments
Provides for assessment of employees and contractors who are appointed as ’Persons’ or ’Competent Persons’ for work on overhead tower lines and in high voltage substations on 275kV and 400kV transmission systems.
Learning materials cover the responsibilities of Persons and Competent Persons under the Safety Rules and related procedures at three levels:
- Basic covering ’General Safety’, the basic Safety Rules, the different types of Safety Document, and procedures for their issue and receipt.
- Foundation covering the requirements of the National Safety Instructions for work on or near to overhead tower lines, and work in substations on high voltage, low voltage or mechanical equipment, demarcation of the work area, and the use of mobile elevating work platforms or similar plant in a substation.
- Development covering work on specific equipment or situations such as gas insulated switchgear or high voltage testing.
