Fault Localisation
Illustrates and tests the decision making process for sectionalising a faulty circuit on a public electricity supply distribution network.
- A randomly placed cable fault on an 11KV ring main circuit requires the user to sectionalise the circuit, working from a typical schematic diagram, in order to restore supplies to as many customers as possible. If an incorrect or unsafe action is attempted by the user corrective feedback is given.
Each action and decision by the user is recorded, enabling the tutor to assess and review the user’s effectiveness in limiting lost consumer hours and for compliance with the electricity company’s supply restoration criteria and procedures.
